Description
An archival giclée print of a Ghanaian hand-painted movie poster commissioned for the 1984 Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense. This artwork is after an original painting by the Ghanaian artist Mr. Nana Agyq for the Deadly Prey Gallery. The surreal composition depicts lead singer David Byrne in his signature oversized suit, which is adorned with several large insects, standing before a microphone. He is flanked by other band members against a macabre graveyard backdrop featuring dancing skeletons, snakes, bats, and a full moon. The upper portion of the print contains the text STOP MAKING SENSE THE TALKING HEADS, while red text to the left reads MAKOSA VIDEO NIMA.
The print is an Artist’s Proof, with the letters AP handwritten in pencil in the lower right margin outside the image border. It is professionally housed in a contemporary black wooden frame under Artglass AR 70, a high-performance anti-reflective glazing providing approximately 70% UV protection. The reverse of the frame retains a label for The London Framing Studio and a technical specification label for the Artglass glazing.
Frame Size 100 x 71cm.
Condition report:
The print appears to be in excellent condition, well-preserved behind museum-quality glazing with no visible fading, foxing, or damage. The frame and glazing are in very good condition with no significant signs of wear or marking to the wood or glass.
