Description
A limited edition archival giclée print of a hand-painted Ghanaian mobile cinema poster for Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror film The Shining. The artwork, by the artist Magasco of Teshie, Accra, Ghana, features a surreal collage of imagery in the distinctive style of the Ghanaian Golden Age of cinema posters. The composition includes Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) breaking through a wooden door, Wendy Torrance (Shelley Duvall) in distress, and Danny Torrance on his tricycle. The poster incorporates characteristic gore and exaggerated elements, such as a human-headed snake representing the twins, a large cobra with an open maw, and a severed head held by Wendy. The Peace Video Club logo is printed in the upper right. The work is signed in the print MAGASCO / TESHIE / ACCRA-GH. ART and is hand-numbered 8/25 in pencil to the lower right margin. The print is professionally housed in a modern black wooden frame with a white card mount. The reverse bears a label for The London FRAMING Company and specifies the use of Artglass AR 70, which provides anti-reflective properties and 70% UV protection.
Frame Size 100 x 71cm.
