Lot 72:
Description
A late 20th-century postmodern coffee table constructed from tessellated travertine stone. The rectangular top features tapered undersides along the longitudinal edges. Each short end of the tabletop is decorated with three inlaid squares of contrasting dark brown, heavily veined marble, likely Emperador marble. The top is supported by a substantial central pedestal base made of matching stone, incorporating a recessed horizontal band near the floor level. The construction method involves stone tiles applied over a substrate, a technique characteristic of Italian-inspired stone furniture from the 1970s and 1980s. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible.
Length 125cm
Width 65cm
Height 40cm
Condition report:
The item is in fair to good condition overall. There are several visible scuffs, abrasions, and areas of loss to the polished surface along the lower, tapered edges of the tabletop. The top surface shows minor superficial scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
