Description
An assortment of decorative storage containers and devotional items. The collection includes a wooden box featuring intricate geometric multi-coloured inlay work in the Moorish style with a partitioned interior. A trunk-style box is finished with vertical black and tan stripes, faux-leather strap details, and brass-toned hardware. A large lidded storage box is covered in black leatherette with integrated side handles. A rustic wooden crate features the printed text Porter & Woodman above a harbour scene illustration including the word Hyson. A smaller wooden box is decorated with red and black stain and incised floral motifs. The group also contains religious icons on gold-toned panels depicting figures such as Christ Pantocrator and the Virgin and Child, with Greek inscriptions including IC, XC, MP, and ΘY.
Condition report:
The items show signs of wear consistent with age and use. Observable issues include surface scuffing and scratches to the leatherette and wooden boxes, minor losses to the stained and inlaid finishes, and some oxidation to the metal hardware.
